Privacy Policy

How this website handles information. Last updated September 26, 2026.

This Privacy Policy explains how the Williams for Santa Clara City Council District 2 2026 campaign (“we,” “us,” or “the campaign”) handles information in connection with this website, williamsfordistrict2.com (the “Site”).

The short version

This Site is a static, informational campaign website. We do not run analytics, we do not set our own advertising or tracking cookies, and there are no forms that collect your information on the Site itself. You can browse without giving us any personal information.

Information you choose to give us

Some links open your own email program (for example, the “Email the campaign” button). If you choose to email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use that only to respond to you and to carry out the work of the campaign.

Donations

Our Donate button sends you to the campaign’s secure donation page hosted by NationBuilder (williamsfordistrict2.nationbuilder.com/donate). Any information you enter to make a contribution is collected and processed by NationBuilder under its own privacy policy, not by this Site.

California campaign-finance law (enforced by the Fair Political Practices Commission) requires the campaign to collect and publicly report certain information about contributors — such as name, address, occupation, and employer — once contributions reach the thresholds set by law. Information reported this way becomes part of the public record.

Third-party services and links

  • Web hosting. The Site is served as static files by our hosting provider (Porkbun). Like most web servers, the host may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type, and time of request) to operate and secure the Site.
  • Web fonts. Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser requests those fonts, Google receives your IP address as part of that request, under Google’s privacy policy.
  • Embedded video. Some News posts embed a video using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced (“no-cookie”) player. When a video loads, YouTube receives your IP address, and it may set cookies if you play the video, under Google’s privacy policy.
  • Social media and external links. We link to sites such as Instagram, Facebook, our endorsers, and the NationBuilder donation page. Those services are controlled by others and have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their practices.

Cookies and tracking

This Site does not set cookies and does not use analytics or advertising trackers. The third parties listed above may use their own cookies or logging when you interact with them.

Children’s privacy

This Site is intended for voters and the general public and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Data retention and security

We keep the information you send us (such as emails) only as long as needed for the campaign and as required by law, and we take reasonable steps to protect it. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
